From the great minds of Mike Sonderby and Tim Martin, Drekar Meadery was founded in 2019. Mike, a passionate homebrewer, had been perfecting his mead recipes for years. Both tired of box store retail work, they decided to take the plunge and share our fantastic mead with the wider world.

We began our journey with three exceptional meads: Freyr’s Sail, a traditional mead; Freya’s Tears, a mead with raspberries; and Loki’s Barb, a mead with blackberries.

Drekar Meadery had its grand opening in January 2020, just before the pandemic. We opened our Viking Mead Hall with camaraderie and board games, welcoming friends to drink the nectar and play a variety of games, including board games, Magic, Dungeons and Dragons, and Mech Warriors.

The first couple of months were fantastic, with our initial batch selling out entirely before the next one was ready. Our second batch was ready just as the pandemic struck, forcing us to shut down our tasting room for over a year. Fortunately, we had built quite a following by then, and we were able to keep pushing through via bottle sales.

Through the community of mead lovers, we survived the pandemic and are looking to the expanding horizon to see where this ship brings us next! Through perseverance and the support of our loyal customers, we continue to thrive and share our love for mead with the world. Join us on this journey and raise a horn to new adventures.
