Gorm’s Legacy
Gorm the Old was the first historically confirmed King of Denmark, ruling in the 10th century and laying the foundation for the Danish monarchy. Revered also as “Gorm the Mighty” and “Gorm the Sleepy,” he embodied strength, legacy, and loyalty to the old Norse ways. His memory endures through the Jelling stones — Denmark’s symbolic birth certificate — erected by his son Harald Bluetooth. Our Royal Reserve bochet mead honors Gorm’s enduring legacy: bold, unyielding, and rooted in fire and tradition.
Flavor – caramelized honey
Gorm the Old opens with deep, warming aromas of caramelized honey and toasted spice. On the palate, rich notes of nutty toffee and dried berries emerge, balanced by hints of fig and subtle oak from extended aging. The mead’s full body and smooth texture carry through to a lingering finish, where earthy sweetness and spice leave a regal impression worthy of its namesake.

Ingredients
Crafted with local Colorado alfalfa and wildflower honey, caramelized to a deep, nearly black intensity, then fermented with pure mountain water and select wine yeast. No added sulfites. Unfiltered. Traditional and bold — just as a king’s mead should be.
Appearance
Gorm the Old pours a deep amber to rich mahogany hue, reminiscent of aged resin or firelit bronze. A natural haze—born from caramelized honey, minimal processing, and the absence of added clarifiers—gives the mead a rustic, unfiltered appearance that honors traditional methods. Its rich viscosity clings to the glass, forming slow, elegant legs that signal its full-bodied strength and complexity. Some settling of sediment is natural; agitate gently to re-incorporate before serving.
Intensity
14% ABV, delivering a smooth, deceptively mild warmth with no harsh bite.
